Wayne Leonard Binch. April 15, 1960 - April 2009

Wayne passed away in April of this year. He died of a heart attack in his home in Tweed Heads, New South Wales, Australia. To my knowledge, he was only survived by his mother, Laura May Hopkinson. I did not know Wayne very well; we only conversed via email in regards to our family history. I know that researching his family history was a passion of his, and it was not for naught. I believe he was able to publish online just about all of his family history research before he died, and he sent me a folder containing much research as well. I will make sure that the research he has compiled will be forever available to our future generations in one form or another, and he will be remembered as a great family historian. Please feel free to post your thoughts below.

Hi Steve,

Yes Wayne did pass away this year. He is survived by not only his mother but also his sister, niece, nephew, great niece and nephew. Just for my own records Steve, would you mind letting me know who it was that informed you of my uncle's passing. I will continue his section of the family tree very soon just have a lot of things to sort out at the moment. Take care all.

AUS.Binch History > CHILDREN OF WILLIAM ARTHUR

The BINCH name in Australia was carried on by the two sons of William and Sarah, the children being: Sarah Anne took on married name "Kirby". Anna Maria took on married name "Pentecost" went to N.Z. David William b: 1853 Had 7 children. Samuel b: 1857 Had 8 children. Mary Ann took on married name "Payne" there was another son but died at childbirth.

Anna Maria BINCH b:1851 at Pt Henry.Vic.AUS.Anna married William Thomas PENTECOST in Geelong,Victoria and went to New Zealand. Having Two daughters Victoria Louise Penticost and Cissie Pentecost hence there is a Clan of "PURDIE'S" and "NEATE'S" in New Zealand after thier marriagesWalter NEATE m: Victoria and H. Purdie m: Cissie

Sarah Anne BINCH b: circa 1846 came out to "The Colonies" in 1849 on the "S V' Success" with her mother was listed on the manifest as being 1 year old. I do not have much about her early years! Sarah Anne was raped by a Geelong Police Sargent Roche in 1872 subsequently the Policeman commited suicide in 1873 due to the public disgrace of the case. Hence the ROCHE part of her daughters name "Adelaide Roche Binch" b 1873. In later years she met a Robert KIRBY and married him in 1876 she bore him one daughter "Sarah Ann KIRBY" b:1877. Adelaide Roche Binch was fostered out at the time of the marriage and it wasn't for some time that Sarah told Robert about Adelaide. Robert never forgave her about the deception. Sarah and Adelaide attended the "Early Hermitage School" Geelong.

NicolaH

Hello,
My name is Nicola and I am a descendant of the Binch Family from Nottingham, England. I have found this site extremely helpful in compiling and confirming my family history on my Nan's side and wish to thank you all in this regard. I have succeeded with a few earlier branches of our family tree pre 1799/1800 (all thanks to the postings on this site!) dating back to 1674. However, I understand our family tree extends to Belgium some time before 1697 and prior to this from Spain, but I have been unable to locate any information on this line of the family tree and would be extremely grateful for any help anyone can give. I do hope to hear from you.

Regards.
Nicola

MARGARET WROTE:
I have recently come across this interesting site and wonder if anyone knows anything about Thomas Binch, clock maker of Mansfield, and James Binch, who may be his son. James was a clock maker in Liverpool and died 1791 aged 75 years. James is referred to as Major James Binch in the Family Bible when he marries Susannah Lassell. There is a record in the 'Miscellanious State Papers' 1727-1760, of a Thomas Binch of Mansfield clock maker requesting the discharge of his son James from the Royal Dragoons so that he can assist his father. Could this be my James Binch? I would be interested to hear from anyone with any ideas.

Margaret Brett

Hi, I'm not sure but I can ask! My husbands family is quite large and most of them live on the outskirts of mansfield but I can try and find out for you x

jode

Dont have info on Thomas Binch the clockmaker, but had to reply because my son is called Thomas Binch and my brother in law is James Binch and we all live in Mansfield now!!! How strange!!! x

Margaret

Hi Jode
Your reply is interesting, Do you know anything about past Binch's of Mansfield. There is a clock by Thomas Binch in the Mansfield Museum. We were in Mansfield in the Spring but despite looking up a number of record did not come up with anything new. I would be interested to hear if you have anything to add.

There is a letter from H. & F. Binch Co. of Glens Falls, New York, to the Rev. William Binch of Manchester on the Histories page. http://www.binchfamily.com/histories/H_F_Binch_Co_letter_to_Rev_William_Binch_30Jan1926.php
Sylvia Binch (Talma) purchased it on e-bay, scanned it, and made it available to everyone.

Thank you Sylvia.

Hi Steve,
Great to find your site . I am Ella Mae Binch's grandson & wonder how her father (Reese Binch) is related to Eli's family & all the USA Binches? I have let my great uncle, David Binch (Reese's youngest son) know about your site. We can fill in the blanks on our relatives.

Regards,

I moved some of your data to the topic Thomas Binch 1764this will help with an answer to the question posted there

HiI am new to this forum. I am descended from Thomas Binch b. c.1674, via his son Thomas and granddaughter Mary who married Vincent Saxton.Visiting the Nottingham archives last week. I confirmed from the Papplewick transcripts that a Thomas Binch married Mary Hodson in Papplewick."Thomas Binch and Mary Hodson both of Linby were married September 12th 1695 "There was also a burial for Mary Binch in Linby on 9th January 1696. This may or may not be Thomas's wife, but fits in well with a possible remarriage to Elizabeth Hall in Feb 97/98.Kirkby in Ashfield Parish Register (quite close to Linby and Papplewick)Joanes Binch sepultus fuit Dec 18th 1666 ---John Binch was buriedThomas ye sonne of William Binch was borne Jan 30th 1658Maria uxor Gulielmi Binch sepulta est Sept 27th 1676Mary wife of William Binch was buried September 27 1676Gulielmus Binch et Maria Bradbury nupti fuerunt Oct 10th 1678William Binch and Mary Bradbury were marriedMaria filia Gulielmi Binch et Mariae uxoris baptista fuit Nov X 1678Mary daughter of William Binch and Mary his wife was baptised Nov 10th 1678Samuel filius Gulielmus Binch biduo post partum sepultus fuit December 7th 1681 Samuel son of William Binch was buried 2 days after birth. At this point I ran out of time.I had earlier in the day found a lease dated "ye 4 daye of November in ye 21 yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereign Lady Elizabethe "etc. to Thomas Bennet transferring a property " known by the name of ye Hall Situate in Bleasbye within ye said countye of Nottingham nowe or Lately in ye tenure or occupacion of one Willyam Binckes alias Bynche or his assignes with all Landes, Medowes, Pastures, Comens, closses, commodities, proffytes, easements, advanteges and other hereditaments Whatsoever with their appurtenances to ye same Capetall mesuaege, Farme or Tenement belongynge or in anye wise apertenynge or to or with ye same now used and occupyed, sett, Lyinge and beinge within ye townes, fyldes, hamletes, parishis and presinctes of Bleasbye aforesaid, etc."This of course may have nothing to do with our branch of the Binch family.RegardsBarbara
