Hi Wayne and EveryoneI have spent some time at Notts Archives as promised going through Papplewick and Calverton Parish Registers plus a few other bits and bobs trying to make sense of the relationships and some of the date discrepancies of the Calverton Binch family. At the moment I don't have time to post all the info but am pretty certain all Calverton Binch branches descend from Thomas Binch and Elizabeth Hall who married 4 Feb 1698 at Papplewick Nottinghamshire. On the IGI it says that Thomas was born about 1674 at Linby-it is not possible to confirm this as the Linby Registers begin 1692 as do the Bishops Transcripts.A Thomas Binch was baptised 4 Nov 1665 at Hucknall Torkard but there is no way of knowing if they are the same person.Hucknall(where I live) is the next place along from both Papplewick and Linby so who knows. Will post again when time allowsRegards Elaine

Hi Elainethanks for your last few postsyour research has confirmed a lot of connections in the family tree.I had to try and unravel a lot of your information from the IGI microfishe for the name of BINCHpages 1.764-1,767 that I had access too in 1994Your work at the Parish has confirmed dates we already had and has given us a lot more dates and events than we could ever obtain.Thank you againregards Brian

Hi GaynorI am new to this site and am finding it very interestingI am searching for a (Major) James Binch, born around 1716, died in Liverpool in the 1790's where in the 1760's he was a clock maker.I recently came across a document at Kew which mentions Thomas Binch. a clock maker of of Mansfield, asking for the release of his son James from the Royal Dragoons, so that he can help with the family business. My James married the daughter of a Liverpool clock maker, so I am wondering if my James is the son of Thomas of Mansfield.Unfortunately there is no date on the Kew documentI would be interested to hear if you have any information on thisRegardsMargaret Brett
